Hard work on the trainings and fighting spirit delivers great results – and this is how Tanja Žakelj today finished the World Cup race deep in the top-10! She was also seventh on the 2016 Mont-Sainte-Anne race, which is a great result and kick-off point for the last race of the series and the world champs.
We almost got another “Lourdes” in Mont-Sainte-Anne – after days of sunny and hot weather the end of the race finals were taking place in the heavy rain. Jure Žabjek and Rudy Cabirou were also among the riders who got unlucky, but the good thing is that they both kept their protected status. Unior’s best rider was Taylor Vernon, who finished in 21st – which is his best ever elite World Cup result!
Jure was fifth in the Super Final in Špičak, but that is not very important right now – important is that he got enough points to secure the overall title of the iXS European Downhill Cup!
Tanja Žakelj continues to race on the very top level, according to her she even had best race so far this season. On the end she had to settle for second 11th in a row, but everything together gives her motivation for the last big races of the year.
Rudy Cabirou eight and Jure Žabjek tenth!!! Personal best ever for both, team’s best ever in downhill, new milestone of Slovenian mountain biking and generally looking one crazy day in Swiss Alps! Unior Tools Team’s team success is even better with Taylor Vernon in 34th place!
After great results on the downhill race we again have a reason to celebrate in Andorra. Tanja Žakelj did excellent today – she finished in 11th, which is her best result in this season (for now!). But in the beginning it didn’t look all that good…
