Tanja Žakelj had couple of good races and couple of victories this year, but not in such a strong competition. She was planning her form for this period and looks like the plan is working. Tanja reports: “I was pushing as hard as possible, and was 4th in the first part of the race. I passed Yana Belomoina on the first long downhill section, then I focused on my own race and kept my pace. I was keeping up in the first and second lap, than I started chasing; I was feeling very good and strong. I came behind Eva Lechner in the beginning of 4th lap and passed her in the second part of that same lap. I attacked in the fifth lap, and she didn’t followed. The gap only got bigger on the downhill. The gap was about 30 seconds, but there was still one more lap to go. I was pushing hard and won.”

She also adds: “I felt good, I rode in my own pace and today I was the strongest.

This was Tanja’s last race ahead of the World Cup race in Nove Mesto. “This result came in right time. It means that we did a good job and that my form was improving over the months. I will travel to Czech Republic with peace on my mind, knowing that I can ride with the best.”
