The race that should originally take place on the “standard” location in Maribor finally went underway in Kranjska Gora, already a host city to European Elite & Masters Championships. We had three riders on the race since Zarja is still in the recovery.
Jure Žabjek was close to the very top for the whole weekend – on Saturday he was second, only Johannes Fischbach was faster than him. Johannes was also fastest man on Sunday and won the first round of the season, Jure finished the race in 3rd! Slawomir Lukasik was second and got his “revenge” for Buzet where Jure won a week ago. Žiga Pandur finished the race behind his teammate, in fourth. Nal Otoničar was 14th in the Pro Junior U19 category.

Jure Žabjek, 3rd in the Super Final: “The track was very hard on Friday and Saturday with all that rain and sticky mud. I was really happy with second time in the qualifications. I also did a very good run today in the finals.
The track in Kranjska Gora was technical, with lots of roots. First we were happy that we have a race at all, now I’m also happy to be very high on the standings.
I like the concept of the race with Super Finals, it makes the race the same for everybody; in the past we saw some finalists race in the sun, the others in the rain. It also means you have to be very good in the qualifications.”

Žiga Pandur, 4th in the Super Final: “Rain on Friday made the track really demanding – the training was more about getting down without a crash, not about how fast can you go. The track got dry by Sunday, and also big holes appeared on the surface. My final run was average, with some mistakes, but I’m getting back in the right racing zone. I didn’t thought about the results, I went on the race for the right racing feelings.” What about the Super Final concept: “It goes in the right direction, also in regards to where the World Cup is going. You have to race on 100% on Saturday and qualify for the main race, which does make sense.”
