“I’m really happy with my race here in Mont-Sainte-Anne. After success on the European champs I knew that the right racing feelings are getting back and had even more fun preparing for this weekend,” said Tanja after the race and 9th place.
Women elite race was quite boring up in the front, Jolanda Neff was just too strong, but the battle for the podium lasted all the way to the end. Tanja Žakelj was fifth after first lap, then she was in the fight for the places from 7 to 10. For a long time she battled with Lea Davison, finally American went ahead and Tanja finished the race in 9th. This is her best result of the season and again she proved that she can again fight for the high places – next chance will be next week in Windham.
Tanja also said after the race: “I might miss a cherry on the top of the cake, I might have been under a shock after the crash, but I got back on the bike – happy to be OK – and went on. I had the rider in front of me in sight, but I couldn’t catch her anymore. This is my best result of the season, I’m in top ten and I’m happy with that.”
