Tanja Žakelj didn't hide her disappointment after second bad result in a row. She couldn't show the same performance as she did in Cairns or Huskvarna, and again she has more questions than answers. “There is no way I can be satisfied with this race. But I have to accept the result, this is obviously the situation right now, and I have to go forward,” said Tanja after finishing 39th in La Bresse.
Today’s result is not helping in the time before the month long “break” from the big events and the way towards Nove Mesto. Tanja explains a little bit about her plans: “We already did some modifications to original plan, we’ll have time for preparations and smaller races, including national championships. I can only hope we’ll find the reason for this performance.”
Race in La Bresse was very hard, the strong shower in the night made the conditions even harder. Tanja is honest and doesn’t find excuse in that: “Course was very demanding, both physically and technically, there was no time to rest. But it was same for everybody and that is no excuse. Conditions were as they were, honestly it didn't matter that much if it was dry or wet. Mistakes cost me a lot of time, and there were too many of them.”
With a month to the World Championships in Czech Republic it’s obvious where our focus will go. There will be no time to rest – we have a lot of hard work ahead of us!
Jolanda Neff won today’s race in La Bresse. She crashed and had her share of problems, but nothing could jeopardize her victory.
