12 June 2016    WorldCup   Ruaridh   Jure   Leogang

Ruaridh Cunningham was our fastest rider in Leogang – he was 19th in qualifications and hungry for another top-20 result. Unfortunately he didn’t improve on his time, but instead lost couple of places and finished in 27th. “Very solid weekend. Final run was not exactly what I was looking for. Conditions changed over the weekend, I felt OK and I managed to adapt quickly. In final run I did couple of mistakes in the wrong places, which counts a lot with gap being so small. My goal was ten places higher. I’m a little bit disappointed, but the season is not over jet. I still have couple of weekends till the race in Lenzerheide and enough time to think about improvements,” said Ruarid after the race.

Jure Žabjek was of course super happy with his first-ever elite top-30 in the UCI MTB World Cup. 29th place has even bigger value if you look the results and small gaps – he was just second and a half away from top twenty riders. After the race Jure gave us this report: “Conditions were changing in the hours before the finals, track got very dry and we had to change tires. Quickly in my run I realized how dry the track is and I pushed even harder. I didn’t do any bigger mistakes, it was a clean run. Of course I’m super happy with my first ever top-30 in the world cup. I also have high expectations for the next races of the season!”

Reece Wilson was just behind him, in 30th place. His second world cup of the race brought him good result and boost of confidence. Reece after the race: “Positive weekend, I enjoyed it a lot. Qualification run was excellent, one of the best ones ever. That gave me extra confidence for the finals – I had a clean run, without taking too much risks and finishing with very solid result. I’m happy, I aim higher on every race, also in the overall standings.”

What next? “Pizza! I was promised the best pizza in the world. Let’s go,” were final words from Reece, just before whole Unior Tools Team headed towards Ljubljana, Slovenia. Today we’ll go for best pizzas, tomorrow Ruaridh and Reece will already be on their way to Crankworx France. Jure has next iXS European Cup race coming up – in Schladming, Austria.
