The whole race weekend was in the anticipation of the coming storm, and all forecasts show that it will hit right in the time of the finals. That turned out to be true! “Victims” of the weather were also Jure Žabjek and Rudy Cabirou; Rudy also had problem with his rear tire that went of his wheel after a heavy bump in the middle of the track.
The riders that were on the track before the rain were in the good position to attack and among them was also Taylor Vernon. He’s not happy with his run, but a solid time ensured him 21st place – his best ever so far in elite category in the World Cup! Congratulations!
Mont-Sainte-Anne is hosting best mountain bike riders for the 27th consecutive year, mountain will also host world champs in 2019. Downhill track is brutal, combination of high speeds and rocks takes it tall on the equipment, no matter how good it is.
Jure Žabjek was 41st on the end, but he kept 14th place in the overall standings. Rudy finished on the bottom of the results list, but he also kept the status of the protected riders. That will give peace of mind to both for the race in Val di Sole.
American Aaron Gwin won the race with the unbelievable run in the rainy conditions and made the race for the overall champion very interesting.
