This is the first time that all of the riders are on one location - so today's bad weather will come useful to spend some time in a nice lodge and meet each other better. This year FW hosts classic double event with DH and 4X, so we start tomorrow with DH course inspection and 4X training. Follow our website for more info about we are up to in Scotland.
Žiga, Nejc and Matej Drnovšek on the podium
New venue in Cerkno hosted about 140 riders from Slovenia and abroad and our guys were there to defend lead in the overall standings. For Nejc and Žiga this was second first/second position in a row and they extended the lead in the standings with two races to go.
Maria flew from Greece to join us on the race and completed the success for the team. She was second in the semi-finals but managed to fine some more time in her final run and she won the race by a massive gap. Congratulations to the three of them!
Also there should be UK National Champs this weekend and Harry should be there racing. But the race was cancelled due to the heavy rain and strong wind.
Žiga Pandur was having a bad day today - he had a flat right after the start and hopes for another top results were gone. At the end of the week Žiga and Nejc will compete on Slovenian Cup downhill, Maria and Neža will join them, before traveling to Fort William.
Factroyjackson has published Harry's bike check. Check it out here:http://factoryjackson.com/2011/05/17/harry-heath-unior-tools-trek-session-bike-check/
Awesome weekend in Croatia at international C2 race in Psunj. Nejc and Žiga again showed that they are the fastest guys in this part of Europe and took home 1st and 2nd place, with nice gap in front of other riders. Great start before the upcoming world cups. Neža also attended the race and finished 3rd in minor competition, but it's still great for her second downhill race.
First round of the iXS European Downhill Cup took place in Monte Tamaro / Switzerland. On a long and muddy course we also had two riders from our team - Žiga finished on a very solid 10th place, while Nejc was 21st.
"Track was closed and had only one line, I knew my ride has to have as little mistakes as possible. In the qualy run I didn't quite get into the rhythm of the course, but in the final run I have enjoyed it and finished with a good time," was Žiga Pandur's comment after the race. This shows that all hard work during the winter is paying off and that the form before Fort William is very high.
Nejc Rutar was only 21st - type of the track should suit him, but he didn't found the right line: "Each run was better, but not enough. I did my best run in the finals, despite the fact that I had some riders in front of me and I had to pass them."
Overall this is another good team result in the first part of the season. Now the team is ready for some national events before the World Cup in Scotland.
